Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect only what we need to get you your gear and keep you informed. We don’t sell your data. We don’t do creepy ad tracking. If you have questions, just ask.

Who we are

We’re Musology, an Australian business, based in the state of NSW, making music performance tools. Our first product is the Phat Controller, a USB MIDI footswitch controller. This policy covers the Musology website (https://musology.com.au, https://musolo.gy) and our companion desktop application.

What we collect and why

The companion app

The Phat Controller companion app runs entirely on your computer. It doesn’t send data back to us, and your presets and settings stay on your machine.

If we add features like cross-device syncing in the future, we’ll update this policy and let you know before any data leaves your computer.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our website—things like which pages are popular and where visitors come from. This data is anonymous and aggregated. We can’t identify you personally from it.

What we don’t do: We don’t use social media tracking pixels, retargeting cookies, or any of those “we noticed you looked at this product” advertising tricks.

If you want to see, correct, or delete your personal information, just email us. We’ll sort it out.

How long we keep your data

We keep your information for as long as you’re an active customer, plus three years after your last interaction with us. This covers warranty periods and lets us help if you come back with questions about an older product.

After that, we delete or anonymise your data.

Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, store data with reputable providers, and limit access to customer information to only the people who need it. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, who are PCI-DSS compliant.

No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Australian Privacy Principles

We’re an Australian company and we respect the Australian Privacy Principles. Even though small businesses are often exempt from the Privacy Act, we think doing the right thing shouldn’t be optional.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we’ll let you know via email or a notice on our website. Minor tweaks (like fixing typos) won’t get a big announcement, but this page will always have the current version.
